Who Are The Volunteers And What Do They Do?

  • Readers are retired or employed, male or female, and from all ethnic groups.

  • The only qualification for volunteering is a desire to make a difference in children's lives.

  • Readers meet weekly with children during class hours determined by classroom schedules.

  • Readers present new books to the children twice a month on "Gift Book" days.

  • Substitute readers provide consistency when volunteer readers are unable to meet their regular weekly commitment.
